Why do people tell stories?

People embark on this discussion because stories are ways in which information has been passed on, from one generation to another. Words and languages are the threads of life. From Shakespeare’s love stories to Mark Twain’s adventures, stories are ways to engage the imagination of a reader or listener.
If we blow up this scenario and scrutinize it, we will see that stories have been told ever since man was created. Nevertheless, everyone has a different motive behind storytelling. For instance, a friend has a different intention and a teacher has a distinct purpose; the friend may always try to impress us but the teacher tries to influence our minds. Nevertheless, storytelling has always been and always will be used as an expression.
My father was a villager and used to work in the fields with his father. After touching the age of 18 he moved to the city. Nonetheless, today I am all because of his hard work and doggedness. He explained to me the hardships through which he earned money; to support us, our education, our basic needs and wants. The stories he told me had a lasting impression on me and matured my philosophy of life. This is why people use the tool of storytelling.
When a mother tells a story to her child, she tries to build up the child’s personality whilst entertaining him. Not only parables, sometimes mothers use the assistance of scary stories to warn the children from wrong doings. For instance, if a mother tells her child that “The thief was punished by the prince”; she basically is counseling her child to stay away from wrong acts, such as theft. Thereby, it is a well known fact that tales are very useful for children’s development.
Stories are not always real, they may be fabricated and the reason for this is insecurity. Moving on with the eras men and women both fabricated stories to basically show off their social status or to maintain it. Stories revolve around lies to save our life or to save ourselves from trouble. These types of stories came out of reflex to avoid trouble; mostly thieves and troublemakers started this kind of story fabrication on a high scale. Little kids follow the same pattern of fabricating and elaborate lies to escape from punishment. Taking a look at the current era, story fabrication has become a necessity mainly because everyone is trying to fit in which has been the case since eternity, only it is more pronounced now as humans have become extra judgmental of other humans around them. So in short, humans fabricate lies and fibs mainly to belong somewhere preferably in a higher status because they are insecure about themselves.
A perpetual liar or a story teller is one who has completely lost sight and confidence in who he is as a person and therefore hides behind barricades of self created words. A self secure person who is true to himself and at peace will never resort to fabrication, of deceit, whether minor or major. Because he would never feel any need to. The scenario is more apparent when we compare two items: one of simple nature and the other well ornamented. Most humans are naturally attracted to the glitter and ornamentation and so neglect, ignore or overlook the simple crude items. Being alone on our own is a difficult situation which most humans cannot fathom and so they do what they think is necessary to remain with the crowd.
However, it depends and varies from an intellect to an intellect. Storytelling is a device used by everyone to make impressions, to explain lessons, to warn people or to influence individuals. It has always been a worldwide custom and always will be.
